An Easter Message
To the wonderful parishioners of
St Mary’s CSsR Parish,
Clapham London SW4,
I have been putting off this message for ages as it somehow did not seem right to be wishing you a Happy Easter under such trying circumstances. We have all experienced this Holy Week and the Sacred Triduum in a completely new and bizarre way, never to be repeated again, let us hope and pray!
Celebrating the liturgies in an empty church, without you, has been painful and sad for us, your priests. That being said we have looked for other ways of letting you know that the Church is still here and the Church still prays for each and every one of its members. Fr Casper and myself have turned ourselves into ‘film makers’ using the internet and our phone cameras in order to get the Holy Mass out of the Church and into your homes. The internet has surely been a God send enabling us to communicate with you and to pray with you.
On Easter Sunday we will celebrate the Easter Mass at 12 noon and of course it would be great to have all of you with us, however before that, at 10.30am, I will go onto the monastery (flat) roof with the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. I will bless the parish from the four corners of the roof, asking the Lord to guard and protect you and your loved one in a special way.
Stay safe, stay sane and keep the faith!
The Lord is risen from the dead and alleluia is definitely our song!
Celebrate well this Easter.
Peace,
Fr Richard CSsR, Fr Casper CSsR
and all the Redemptorists in the Monastery.
Mother of Perpetual Succour - Pray for us.
