Visit by The Clapham Society to the Spire Repair Project at St Mary’s Church, Clapham 18th June 2015
The Clapham Society visited the Heritage Lottery funded Spire Repair Project at St Mary’s Church, Clapham on Thursday 18th June 2015. The visit was organised and led by the Architects for the Project Thomas Ford and Partners. Paul Sharrock, Partner in Charge and Fergus Mc Cormick, Project Architect gave a PowerPoint presentation on the proposed repairs to the Spire at ground level to the group before ascending the spire and showing the group at first hand the challenges of repairing and restoring this historic grade 2* listed Church. Mr Andrew Kennedy of Contractor’s PAYE was present for the visit and provided a Health and Safety Induction, hard hats and high visibility vests for the visiting group. The Clapham Society group was led by Peter Cobley and consisted of 14 members. Mr Cobley expressed his thanks at the conclusion of the visit to St Mary’s Church, Thomas Ford and Partners and to PAYE contractors for allowing the Clapham Society to visit this important conservation repair project in Clapham.
